Node.js wrapper for FingerprintJS Server API. This SDK might be also compatible, however not actively tested, with JavaScript "edge" runtimes that do not support all Node APIs, for example, Vercel Edge Runtime, or Cloudflare Workers. To make it work, replace the SDK's built-in fetch function (which relies on Node APIs) with the runtime's native fetch function.

FingerprintJS is a source-available, client-side, browser fingerprinting library that queries browser attributes and computes a hashed visitor identifier from them. Unlike cookies and local storage, a fingerprint stays the same in incognito/private mode and even when browser data is purged. Since FingerprintJS processes and generates the fingerprints from within the browser itself, the accuracy is limited (40% - 60%). For example, when 2 different users send requests using identical (i.e. same version, same vendor, same platform), browsers, FingerprintJS will not be able to tell these two browsers apart, primarily because the attribitutes from these browsers will be identical. OPFS is a browser fingerprinting library for creating persistent, unique and long-lasting digital fingerprints without depending on ever-changing variables such as the user agent string commonly used in other browser fingerprinting libraries. As such, the fingerprint does not change most of the time when a user upgrades their browser to the current version. ThumbmarkJS is an MIT-licensed browser fingerprinting library that produces stable fingerprints with 90% uniqueness. It works with normal and private browsing. ThumbmarkJS is a free, open‑source browser fingerprinting JavaScript library, designed as an alternative to FingerprintJS. It generates distinct, persistent device fingerprints using web APIs like canvas, audio, fonts, WebGL, and more, enabling identification of browsers across sessions, even in incognito or cleared-cache scenarios. It supports both client-side-only installs via CDN and npm, with optional API integration for improved uniqueness.

Supercookie uses favicons to assign a unique identifier to website visitors. Unlike traditional tracking methods, this ID can be stored almost persistently and cannot be easily cleared by the user. The tracking method works even in the browser's incognito mode and is not cleared by flushing the cache, closing the browser or restarting the operating system, using a VPN or installing AdBlockers. The demo of "supercookie", as well as the publication of the source code of this repository, is intended to draw attention to the problem of tracking possibilities using favicons.
