I have been using Redo Rescue version 4.0.0 without any issues so far. However, a problem has recently occurred. I have started using a new HP desktop. Redo Rescue is unable to detect this PC's SSD as a source disk. If anyone knows why this might be the case, please let me know. The HP desktop PC model name is HP Pro Tower 280 G9 PCI, and the SSD is a Samsung PM9C1 512GB NVMe SSD, model number MZ-VL85120. Please, I beg of you. Veracrypt creates a "dm' type device for its container. REDO does not accept it. I dropped out of REDO and used PARTCLONE successfully to backup and restore partitions. Any way to get REDO to use the "dm" device. I'm a novice LINUX user so I can't get any further. It would help tremendously to backup and encrypt in one pass with REDO. We definitely agree that restoring from any backup made with an official Redo release is not an "edge-case scenario." However, let's be clear: you are referring to forks of our project, not Redo itself. With regard to the bug you mentioned: Obviously all data was not lost, and is safely stored in the backup. I still have Redo Rescue on a Samsung laptop with Windows 10. Sadly, my Toshiba laptop blew up spectacularly in a dazzlingly wild screen display shortly after I put Rescue on it. No software fix for that! It made a sound between the roar of a T-Rex and a lion when that happened. I am fooling myself with the disassembly of that as if I could resurrect that lifeless laptop. I appreciate the information about Rescue, a very interesting program. I assume RAID-1 has some kind of overhead cost in terms of disk space. I really want to use RedoRescue as my favorite, but there are some there are a few inconsistencies I want to tell you: The File Editor don't show mounted drives. So it was not possible to copy files from hdd1 to hdd2 I missed an option to exclude files in the RedoRescue-GUI (in Windows there are some big systemfiles like pagefile.sys and hyberfil.sys... when they files are excluded,...

james anderson posted a comment on discussion Help

Thanks a lot dear Alk, your reply cleared my confusions. thanks again

Alk posted a comment on discussion Help

Does this redo backup solution still work in case of hard drive failure ( C drive crashes) , because we have no windows ( or other OS) in our computer system to begin with. Can we still reach BIOS/boot up key in that case. Yes Do we need to make a separate USB recovery drive for our windows OS in this case or the redo backup solution ( as mentioned earlier) is enough for C drive failure scenario too? In redo backup solution , we flash redo iso in a USB and backup our files, folders, videos, photos, softwares in an external Hard drive which we can use to recover later. It works perfectly fine if there is no Hard drive ( C drive) failure in our computer/laptop.
