errors don't take you to the block

Errors do not seem to take you to the block where the error occurred, as was the intention.

Characters less than 32 induce wierd behavior on linux. This is not ideal. They should show up as single characters or something.

If you skip over blocks and then write to a block in the editor, this adds a block full of zeros rather than spaces.
