This game has 2 major problems: The video in "quick start" isn't visible in the mobile. There is only the audio playing. The audio is quite distorted, as if it is coming from a different planet. This patch reuses the AsyncWaveOutOpen because I didn't want to try compiling the host binary but I don't know if it works with Candyland so it's not really a replacement. The idea is to get the callback processing out of the main thread. I really do appreciate it! I'm using my laptop, I have an Intel core i7 1165G7 @ 2.80GHz (2.70 GHz) Intel iris xe graphics card and 16GB ram windows 11 pro 25H2, os build 26200.8246 I downloaded the collection chambers version and it worked for me, but i had to go into the file, click mount.bat and then click the clue.exe and it starts. Sorry, I didn't have access to a Windows machine... I've borrowed a Windows Server 2022 box for now. The startup crash was some trouble with the import table, a fixed version is in the repo. Now it chucks an error and falls back to software rendering when you enter a level; I think the engine is not tearing everything down properly, and Windows cares while Wine does not. I'll have a dig this evening.

agathosdaimon posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

i was getting the weird graphics card error message when i tried to just run from a normal installation, so instead i am using the Heat Core version which is preferable also because of all the other AI fixes too. So I got rid of the frame, locked the window to the top-left, and it seems to be working! I can see all the text and there's no residue after the cutscene (knock on wood). Of course, the caveat is that the game is stuck in the corner of the screen. But at least it's nice and large now! I also tweaked the config so that the mouse is mapped correctly in the pause menu. If I drag the window to the top left of my display, I can see a bit of the dialogue. I'm guessing the gdi32.SetWindowOrgEx call just isn't being handled correctly. you can see it at the top but only after the dialog window is closed which means there's probably some other problem too. I could see the text during the dialogue, but I also noticed it getting stuck after the cutscene. I don't think this is an issue with DXWnd but rather an old bug with how The Games Factory/Multimedia...

gho posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

You've got no luck, again the game (your copy of the game with your configuration!) works perfectly here, the window stretching causes no artifacts.
