StoryText (formerly PyUseCase) is an unconventional GUI testing tool, with support for PyGTK, Tkinter, wxPython, Swing, SWT and Eclipse RCP. Instead of recording GUI mechanics directly, it asks the user for descriptive names and hence builds up a "domain language" along with a "UI map file" that translates it into the current GUI layout. The point is to reduce coupling, allow very expressive tests, and ensure that GUI changes mean changing the UI map file but not all the tests. Instead of an "assertion" mechanism, it auto-generates a log of the GUI appearance and changes to it. The point is then to use that as a baseline for text-based testing, using e.g. TextTest. It also includes support for instrumenting code so that "waits" can be recorded, making it far easier for a tester to record correctly synchronized tests without having to explicitly plan for this.

Testerman is an attempt to produce a TTCN-3 inspired test automation system without the strict typing model of the TTCN-3 test control notation that can be too heavy to be practical with non-stricly defined protocols. This is achieved by bringing TTCN-3 primitives and concepts to the Python programming language. With Testinfra you can write unit tests in Python to test the actual state of your servers configured by management tools like Salt, Ansible, Puppet, Chef and so on. Testinfra aims to be a Serverspec equivalent in python and is written as a plugin to the powerful Pytest test engine. By default Testinfra launches tests on the local machines, but you can also test remotes systems using paramiko. If you have a lot of tests, you can use the pytest-xdist plugin to run tests using multiple processes. When installing, you should select the backends you require as extras to ensure Python dependencies are satisfied (note various system packaged tools may still be required). Automatically mock your HTTP interactions to simplify and speed up testing. VCR.py simplifies and speeds up tests that make HTTP requests. The first time you run code that is inside a VCR.py context manager or decorated function, VCR.py records all HTTP interactions that take place through the libraries it supports and serializes and writes them to a flat file (in yaml format by default). This flat file is called a cassette. When the relevant piece of code is executed again, VCR.py will read the serialized requests and responses from the aforementioned cassette file, and intercept any HTTP requests that it recognizes from the original test run and return the responses that corresponded to those requests.
