pyringe is a powerful Python process “syringe” that attaches to a running interpreter and lets you introspect—and even execute code inside—that live process. It blends debugger-style attachment (via gdb/ptrace techniques) with Python-aware helpers so you can inspect threads, frames, locals, and heap objects without restarting the target. This is invaluable for post-mortem diagnosis of production daemons where reproducing a bug in a dev shell is impractical. pyringe can inject arbitrary Python into the target process, enabling on-the-spot logging, state dumps, or gentle patching to keep a system limping along while you gather evidence. It’s also useful for forensic snapshots: enumerate objects of a certain type, find reference cycles, or measure memory pressure without pre-instrumentation. While powerful, it’s designed for careful, auditable use—showing exactly what code runs and where—so teams can regain visibility when black-box processes go sideways.

Quercitools has just one tool for now - stackcheck.py. It helps in troubleshooting of stack overruns. Such defects destroy stack contents and locating the source of the problem is not easy. If the program overwrites such parts stackcheck.py stops the program and points to the offending line of code.

Soto is a graphical message debugger for simpleIPC. In addition to displaying the message traffic between processes, it can log and play back this traffic. Soto also provides the ability to design GUI "panes" that are populated with data from messages.

Through Browser Debugger (TBD) is a debugger for the Python language which uses any web browser as the user interface. Simply run TBD with the name of the application to debug and your browser will open automatically to display the debugger.

URDB is a universal reversible debugger that adds reversibility to almost any debugger through a python-based wrapper. It also supports reversible debugging of distributed computations, and temporal search on expression values.

vimspector is a powerful debugging plugin for Vim and Neovim designed to bring IDE-style debugging capabilities (breakpoints, stepping, call stacks, watch windows) into the modal editor world. It supports multiple languages (C++, Python, TCL among others) via the Debug Adapter Protocol (DAP) model and provides an in-editor UI for viewing scopes, variables, stack frames, output windows and more. You configure it per-project via a .vimspector.json file (or per file type) specifying the adapter, launch configuration or attach process. Once configured you can run, pause, step into/out/over, set and clear breakpoints and inspect variables directly in Vim splits or floating windows. The UI is heavy compared to typical Vim plugins (multiple panes, layouts) but it fills the gap for users who want an integrated debug workflow without leaving the editor.
